Did you know that people from both the east and west coasts are moving to St Mary’s, Kansas? Today we are going to discover why and tour the magnificent Immaculata Church …the largest SSPX church in the world. This $42 million dollar Romanesque-style church of the Society of St. Pius the X stands 12 stories high, holds 1,580 people and can be seen from 5 miles away. We will be personally guided throughout this beautiful church and also meet our local tour guides who will travel with us throughout the day…Lyle Butler and Larie Schoap.

Traveling from St. Mary’s to Manhattan, Lyle Butler, retired President of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, will join us and educate us on the growth and happenings of the greater Manhattan area. On our way to lunch we will pass ESB Financial and proceed for lunch at Union Hall, Manhattan’s newest event center in the historic Eames Building on Poyntz Avenue. Larie Schoap, retired Vice-President ESB Financial-Manhattan, will join us on our motor coach and we will explore the Midwest Dream Car Collection…the most prestigious collection in the region…of over 65 cars ranging from 1886 to present day.

Our final stop on our journey will be the Liquid Art Winery and Estate. Experience the beautiful Flint Hills and scenic view of the vineyard and estate while sampling a variety of their Kansas wines along with a charcuterie platter. We will travel home via the scenic byway on highway 177 to Emporia.

Sometimes we have a trip that is so great we have to bring it back to you! You asked…so we are off to Kansas City’s Coffee Company…The Roasterie Factory Café…a specialty coffee-roasting company that is home to KC’s finest coffee. You will know when we arrive as we are greeted by Betty, the DC3 aircraft on top of the factory. We will take a tour and learn about the unique cupping, roasting and blending process of the air-roasted coffee…and enjoy a cup of The Roasterie’s finest in the Factory Café.

Next we are off to the KC Crossroads district to our favorite…Jack Stack BBQ-Freight House. You will love this converted historic Freight House with 25’ceilings, fireplace, indoor & outdoor private dining. Get ready to devour Kansas City BBQ! YUM!

Now…get ready to be a kid again! We are excited to go to Swope Park and the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium! The new, state of the art, Sobela Ocean Aquarium opened in 2023, after 10 years in planning. It is a world-class facility… home to nearly 8,000 animals in 34 habitats, and holds over 650,000 gallons of water. You will be able to explore on your own…enjoy unlimited rides on the KC Zoo Railroad, African Tram, African Sky Safari, Kenyan Cruise, and Endangered Species Carousel.
